Red Cross Clothing Donation box in Worcester?
I have a bunch of old clothing, and some shoes, that I'd like to donate to the Red Cross. When I lived in Waltham I knew where they had a drop box, but since I've been in Worcester I've only seen boxes connected with other agencies - generally religious. By personal choice I don't donate to religious charities, so I don't want to drop my stuff in those. I know the Red Cross must have some donation boxes and I've just not seen them - I've be shocked if they stopped taking donations. I live in Worcester (on Belmont Hill) and I work in Rt.20 in Marlborough. So anything in town, or along I290/Rt.9/Rt.20 between Worcester and 495 (I can stop on my commute - and any of those is viable) would be cool. Thanks.

are their any homeless shelters in the area? Or can you just drop off the items @ red cross?

"The Red Cross is unable to accept small, individual donations or collections of items such as clothing, food or cleaning supplies."
-American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts: Gifts in Kind

"...the Red Cross is unable to accept any ... items, such as used clothing, hygiene items, furniture, toys, and canned goods."
-Donate Goods - American Red Cross

So yeah, it looks like they stopped taking donations.

I think i found one

Thanks for the tips folks - I think I found one this morning though. In my search for a gas station with a working air pump (tire with a slow leak) I spotted what looks like a Red Cross donation box in the parking lot of the Shell station on Lincoln Street. I didn't get a close look since I only noticed it as I was leaving their lot (their air pump was out of service - 2nd in a row). I'll check it later to see what it accepts.

Hey, you must have driven right past my flat to get there then... I live right across from St Bernard's Church.

Try Salvation Army

I put all my clothes into plastic bags and just call the Salvation Army. They come by and pick it up. I just leave them on the front porch of the building. They generally do a certain area on a specific day of the week. It's a little easier than trying to find a box. :)

They have a religious bent - and they've done things I really dislike. Like refusing to help AIDS victims (at least in some areas).

I dropped my stuff in the Red Cross box on the way to work this morning.
