Breakfast Anyone?
Lifted from pfloyd - I haven't done one of these in a while, but ladymalone should understand why this one needs to be done. ;-)

1. What was your favorite breakfast cereal when you were a kid?
2. What is the best toy/prize you ever got in a box of cereal or because of sending in UPC’s?
3. How do you take your eggs (scrambled, over easy, egg beaters)?
4. What is your favorite breakfast meat (bacon, ham, sausage)?
5. What is your favorite spot (local or chain restaurant) for breakfast and where is it located?

1. I had to think about this one for a minute. I thought of Life, Cinnamon Life, Fruity Pebbles, Frosted Miniwheats - all favorites. But then it hit me, and I knew the only possibly answer: Peanut Butter Captain Crunch! While the others came and went, I would always go back to that one. I'd make HUGE heaping bowls of that and chow down like Calvin eating Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. And those things would tear up the roof of my mouth, but that never stopped me. I couldn't get enough of those.

2. Remember Nerds Cereal? No? I'm not surprised. Remember the candy? OK, the candy came in boxes with two flavors - the box was split in half. You could open both sides and have one or the other flavors. The cereal was one of those fad cereals - like Smurfberry Crunch, etc - which came and went. But you could collect points and send away for a Nerds cereal bowl! The bowl was two colors (I think mine was pink/blue), with a divider down the middle. So you could keep the two flavors separate. But the cool part was that there was a gate in the divider! You could lift it out and let the two sides mix. Like when you were done and the milk was two colors, pull it out and watch it swirl... I wonder what happened to that bowl, maybe my parents still have it somewhere...

3. I don't. I LOATHE eggs. *In* something is fine - cake, fried rice, whatever. But alone, omelets, etc? Yuck.

4. Bacon. Very crisp.

5. I normally don't eat breakfast actually, and I don't really have a favorite spot around here for when I do. I generally find diner's have the best breakfasts.

1) Apple Jacks. Until the day that my Mom read an article about the sugar content of kid's breakfast cereals, and saw that Apple Jacks was 54% sugar. After that, I ate Cheerios (I poured sugar on them, of course).
2) I sent in a form from a Frosted Flakes box for a sweepstakes, and I won a signed baseball in the 2nd chance portion of the sweepstakes.
3) My preference is for my eggs to be over medium, however scrambled is a close second. Back in my dairy days, I would {heart} a cheese, tomato and scallion omelette.
4) BACON BACON BACON BACON BACON.
5) Given my dietary restrictions, I tend to make breakfast at home.

1. cream of wheat and alphabits. alphabits was one of the very, very, very few cold cereals i could ever stand. lucky charms was and is not an acceptable substitute.
2. snap bracelets! back when they were still legal.
3. i like the whites fried alone. yolks gross me out to an extent i can't even begin to describe in words. scrambled eggs are okay, but i prefer them just entirely yolk-free.
4. fake sausage patties. particularly, the morningstar farms ones.
5. the bean counter. it's um, the only place i ever eat breakfast other than home aside from the campus center. (campus center breakfasts aren't that bad, though... they have been making these amazing cinnamon rolls every day since like c-term. i have eaten way too many of them.)

i had no idea you were so strongly opposed to eggs! the more you know.

I had an image of you pouring Alphabits INTO Cream of Wheat.

What's a snap bracelet?

essentially, they're little straps of flexible metal covered with fabric. when struck on something (like a wrist), they snap into a circular shape. (and so become bracelets, as opposed to straps of metal.) they were only really available in the late 80s/very early 90s. then some stupid kids like, accidentally cut themselves on the metal (which was sticking out from the fabric or something), and a bunch of schools banned them, etc. (including my elementary school, which went from doing a brisk business in them at the school store to like giving you detention for wearing them to class.) and so they more or less disappeared.

here's a not-very-good photograph from a store in new zealand that still sells them:

alphabits mixed into cream of wheat is an image that makes my brain very sad. :(

Are you kidding me? ... you don't know what a snap bracelet is?

*Sigh* Boys!

Well, I do now. :-) And I do remember them from school, but only after seeing the picture and reading the description.

Yeah, talk about nervous habit! I use to take those things and just pound the fuck out of my wrists with them - they hurt and cut you up to shit, but man they were stylish as all hell :)

Thanks to me being such a pack rat I've still got a few!
