I spotted this in elfs - note, this is NOT a parody, this is a real poster being used on commuter trains that run between Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC. I really hope this was an artist with a twisted sense of humor and not someone who thought Soviet propaganda was 'keen'.

Wow, that's beautiful.

Hey, at least if we're going to go all totalitarianist we'll maybe have some nice posters to look at while we're being oppressed.

I have always thought the people who run mass transit are close to fascists

Probably the former. Although I've seen instances where people have managed to work their political views into their artwork.

In this case it could also be that somebody who is against the "MARC"(?) policy of reporting on other riders was hired to do the artwork. They chose to portray it as communist.

BTW, I'm kinda ashamed to admit that I *like* the ARTWORK on much Soviet-era propaganda. Especially the anti-Nazi stuff of the 40s. I disagree with the overall political leanings of the government behind it though.

I, too, love the artwork of the old Soviet propaganda posters -- and the idea of controlling so many minds actually tickles the megalomaniac that's hidden shallowly behind my public façade.

THE MOTHER-LAND IS CALLING!

A sign of the times ;)

When you can't come out and say it, you use satire...

I do rather admire this person's work too ->

Aw, they're totally just ripping off the City of London's wildly successful Secure Beneath the Watchful Eyes campaign!

Yeah, that's a good one too. :-)
