Heads up - TiVo subscription pricing changing
Just in case you don't read tivolovers, TiVo is changing their pricing plans and eliminating the lifetime subscription. It is still available, but only until Wednesday, 3/15. There are more details in the community.

re: lifetime

The Lifetime subscription was a no-brainer until I found out it was by the box. I was wary of it when I bought my new box because there's even more potential for technology upgrades leaving me behind than there was 4 years ago. However, you do make a good point about resale.

Re: lifetime

My lifetime subscription paid itself off in 18 months. I've had the box 4 years now and really have no plans to upgrade. However, if I did, I might switch to Comcast DVR at this point since a) it can handle HD and b) it's just a monthly rental fee and nothing else making it more cost effective than Tivo.
