Navy Chief Submerges 2,000 Feet, Sets Record
A Navy diver submerged 2,000 feet, setting a record using the new Atmospheric Diving System (ADS) suit, off the coast of La Jolla, Calif., Aug. 1.

Damn, I don't think I could do that. It sounds wicked cool, but being sealed in the hardsuit like that - I don't know if I could handle it. Very impressive tech though. (Picked up from jwz)

So at what point does that go from being a diving suit to being a very small submarine?

Obviously...

... when it stops looking like a suit.

If it still looks like a suit and it's twice or more the size of the diver, it becomes a Mobile Suit.

Ooo...

.... I could probably do that. The "sealed up in the suit" for me would be "I'm putting on the baddest-ass suit of armor ever made."

Since murky water scares the bejesus out of me, wearing armor would help.
