Finally, the weekend...

I am looking forward to this weekend - mostly so I can do NOTHING. Sleep, unwind, etc. Though I also intend to do some cleaning, and maybe even unpack some of my books, etc. But nothing too taxing. I need to destress. I'm partially looking forward to it because, but some odd twist of fate, the next many weekends I have some commitments. Next weekend is the annual Purgatory cookout, the following weekend I go to VA to visit impykins, the weekend after that is the Som*Pos RandyCon gathering that I have repeatedly promised mercyspeaks I will attend, the *next* weekend impykins is coming up to vist *me* (and we have the pissup), and then the *NEXT* weekend is AnimeNext in Rye Brook, NY. That takes me through the first weekend of October. Erg. It all sounds like fun stuff, but with the workload I have I fear I will be dropping a lot of balls in my life. I already have a personal inbox creeping up on 100 emails. There are probably a lot of people upset with me for blowing them off. One thing I need to do this weekend is muck out the inbox and send people replies and apologies...

I'm looking at my vacation time, I might try to just take some time off in October to expressly not have commitments. I get 120 hours of vacation/sick (it is a pool) time a year. I rolled over 20 from last year, and I've only used 48 hours so far. So I have 92 hours of vacation through the end of the year. Though anything I don't use does roll over. (I also get two personal days, I've already booked those for visit since those don't roll over.) My boss has been sending slightly contradictory messages, like "We have a ton of work to do and the current schedule already stretches through January" contrasted with "If you have vacation time you might want to use it in the next couple of months."
