Finally, the end of the day...
I didn't end up coming in early, but I was on time. I was so out of it I just took my time getting ready this morning. I was dragging all day and made a few stupid mistakes, and just forgot how to do a few things. But now it is time to head home, finally. Food. Bed. Good.

A few bids have started to show up on my auctions too, which makes me feel better. For some reason, every time I put up a batch of things on eBay, I get tense until I see some bids start to trickle in. I feel better once I see a lot of things with bids. I'll feel much better if someone bids on the TiVo and the James Burke Connections tapes...

I am: tired tired

*sigh* If you weren't charging so much for the VHS hentai, there's several there that I'd bid on...

Think I'm charging too much? I'm never sure how much things are worth, so I basically looked at what the titles sell for at their cheapest, then slashed that. For example, several titles sell for ~$25 each on VHS, but are part of DVD collections where they may be $10-15 (total cost/number of titles), so I set them as $5-10. I take pretty good care of things, and most of my stuff has only been watched once. Of course, eBay is flooded with bootlegs of the same titles for peanuts.

But I do want to get rid of this stuff (looks at the 2.5 full longboxes sitting next to the couch) and now that I'm working again I'm not totally desperate for money (still would be nice to pay off some unemployment debt), so I'm flexible.

Let me know what titles you're interested in and what kind of price you're thinking of. I might just decide to drop the opening bid. :-) (Email is fine if you'd rather not do it here.)

I hate money issues, I don't like screwing myself over, but I also hate the thought of anyone thinking I'm trying to rip anyone off. I've never been very good at determining the monetary value of something, including my own time, etc. Which is why I'd never make it as a freelance consultant.

Nah - you aren't overcharging, I'm just limited in my spending this month. *g*

Well, somehow I think you're trustworthy and aren't going to vanish on me. :-) So if you want, go for it and we can work out delayed payment on things.

The weird part

the weird part is how much your opening price will affect how people bid on things. A price that's too low may accidentally end up selling with no other bids. A price that's too high may prevent anyone from bidding on it.

Generally, I try to make the minimum bid as low as I would be willing to part with something on the grounds that I will sell it for at least that much or nothing at all. If that's lower than the going price, then it's likely that a lot of people will bid on it and drive the price up. Psychologically speaking, it's very difficult (I know from experience) to set a limit on how high you will bid and keep it. eBay's auction system makes that a little easier, but I know I've bid way too much on things even on eBay.
