Zoner en fuego!

No toy for me :-(

As I feared, it looks like I won't get my new toy (NZ90) until Monday. UPS tried to deliver it to me at home last night at 17:45. At 21:57 I submitted a change of delivery address request via their web (you can only do it with the number from the slip they leave, and that was just after I got home). At 11:01 today the tracking was updated with 'UPS Internal Activity Code' - and that's it. It didn't get delivered to work today. (Edit: At 22:10 they updated it to show the delivery was rescheduled.)

To make it more frustrating, he forgot to ship the extra charger via UPS - so he mailed that. It arrived days ago. Sitting there. Taunting me.

Dammit, I wanted to play with it this weekend too. Oh well, I guess I'll use the time to read the rest of the manuals for my new phone and BlueTooth headset. Let me plug the Jabra FreeSpeak BT headset - it is really damn comfortable, I can forget I'm wearing it. And I like the looks I get walking around having conversations with no one - since anyone to my left (I wear it on the right) can't tell I have a headset on. I'm crazy!! It also gives me Star Trek vibes, since you can voice dial by pressing a button on the headset, then the phone beeps and you say the name of the person you want to call. And if they have multiple numbers, the identifier. So I can do things like *push* *beep* "Dalip" *beep* "Cell" and call my boss's cell phone. Yeah, I'm a geek and I'm having fun.

Woo-hoo! We've rolled out!

Ok, people who know me and/or have been reading my journal have probably noticed that I've been putting it a fair bit of time at work the past several weeks. That's because we were in the final stretch to our big product rollout. When I say 'big' I mean "If this project fails we're all looking for work." This is make-or-break for the company. If it succeeds, even slightly, it buys us some time to bring in more customers and develop more big deals like this one. If it doesn't, the investors will cut their losses.

Well, so far, so good.

It is a little stressful working for a company just getting on its feet, and working hard to make the grade. But when things work it is all the more satisfying. I'm very happy that this phase has finally rolled out. But now we have to focus on signing up more vendors for the kiosk, and PayCash only vendors. Plus we have to work on the spec for Rev1.1 - we already know there are several things missing from the code that rolled out, based on vendor feedback.

Never a dull moment.
