Six Degrees of online dating - Friendster (http://www.friendster.com/)

endotoxin responded to one of my LJ posts and mentioned Friendster.

It is kind of like the old 'Six Degrees' site crossed with a dating site - well, you don't have to use it for that, of course.

Of course, I signed up. Now, because I know feeding them a shitload of my friends' email addresses would probably primarily result in my having fewer friends (even if they do swear they don't spam them, or sell them, etc), I won't be doing that.

But if anyone else wants to sign up and end up linked to me, the address I used is megazone@megazone.org. Normally I create new addresses for this kind of site, but then people who might know me and put in the address they'd know wouldn't link with me.

Ok, off to bed.

Hmm, OK.

Didn't get much sleep last night, overslept a bit, had to rush into work (no time to shave either), and I feel *so* tired. It's 11:12 in the morning, this is going to be a long day.

Last night

Last night I'd finished off doing my real work, and was just kind of dinking around with some other work that wasn't pressing, in between reading LJ, USENet, etc. Basically just hanging out in the office playing online with the faster link and faster box with bigger, higher-resolution screens instead of at home with the DSL and weaker box. Since I was the last person here, I could turn up the music too. Not like I really had anything else to do on a Tuesday night.

Then jehanna called and asked if I wanted to come over to articelf's place for food. Seems they were grilling burgers and had *massively* mis-estimated the amount to make. Since I'd managed to work through lunch, and I never eat breakfast, food did have an appeal. And I don't do social things enough, so seeing people seemed like a good idea.

So I headed over to articelf and cykotek's place. articelf makes the burgers by mixing crushed red pepper, black pepper, and something else that I'm forgetting, into the beef - then wrapping a couple of strips of bacon around them before grilling. DAMN yummy. (I should try it - maybe add a little mince garlic too.) articelf was having a little coordination trouble last night, so he'd accidentally dumped a LOT of extra red pepper into the burgers. Which was fine, since jehanna and I are spice heads anyway. (It has been a spicy week - Sunday night was Japanese, where I consumed MUCH wasabi and ginger. Monday for lunch we went for Thai, and I got spicy Tom Yam soup and spicy chicken with peanut - which I added extra garlic chili and dried chili too to boost it. And then the burgers last night...) The two burgers I had realy hit the spot - and I tried the new orange Mountain Dew, which was a surprise. I think I might've heard mention of it before, but it didn't register. I tried it and it is really good.

So we hung around for a while, watched Robot Wars and Conquest (the first time I watched that, I put in a Season Pass on my TiVo when I got home), and were just generally social. I also got many hugs from jehanna, which was very nice indeed. :-)

Last night was just what I needed - both getting out and being a bit social, and getting some nice hugs. It really boosted my mood. I'm feeling a lot happier today than I have been.

I don't think jehanna and I have ever really had much time alone to chat, etc. I think we've pretty much always seen each other in social gatherings - as small as three people, but still. The more time I spend with her the more I think it'd be nice to have a private talk with her about stuff in general. Just to get to know her better.
