Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

James T. Kirk

An impassioned commander with more respect for individuals than for authority, you have a no-holds-barred approach to life and its obstacles.

"I don't believe in the no-win scenario."

OK, so that's actually not that inaccurate.

Arg, Sidehack is rejecting emails, my domain, lives on Sidehack. Well, for at least the past few hours Sidehack appears to be rejecting emails. Looks like the spam protection went loopy, and now even local email is being rejected as being in the 'badmailfrom' list. I knew it was weird that I hadn't been getting email tonight. Then I started seeing responses to my LJ posts, but they weren't showing up in my email - which usually happens immediately. So I tried emailing myself from work, and it was rejected.

Email does seem to make it out - I sent myself an email at work. I was emailing people earlier, I hope they didn't reply and get rejected...

So if you emailed me and got a bounce, wait - try resending it tomorrow. I suspect it will be up soon after one of the admins wakes up.

Five questions

I cribbed these from cdybedahl

1. How much time do you spend online each day?

I'm never sure how to answer this question. I mean, I work all day sitting at an computer (actually a few computers) that are 'online' all the time. Most of the work I do is local, coding on the machine in front of me, etc. So is that online? I often have an SSH connection to Sidehack running in an xterm, but I'm not using it constantly. If you count all the time I'm sitting at the console of networked computer, then probably 10-14 hours on a typical day. I've been working long hours lately too, and after the hours at work I tend to spend some time catching up on personal stuff online.

2. What is your browser homepage set to?

Blank page. I like being able to open a browser without it automatically going off to connect to some site. And there is no page that I want to see every time I open my browser.

3. Do you use any instant messaging programs? If so, which one(s)?

Yes, I tend to use Trillian under Windows and Gaim on Linux. I have accounts on AIM, YIM, ICQ, and MSN. Though I tend not to connect with MSN often. I also used to use Odigo and Jabber, and my accounts may still be floating around out there. Sometimes I sign into IRC, but on private servers.

4. Where was your first webpage located?

My first public webpage was probably something I created at The World around 1994. I'd played with HTML on and off since 1991, but I don't think WPI offered any public space back then.

5. How long have you had your current website?

When did I register Um, 1996? 1997? The current incarnation of my website - the look and feel, and sadly much of the content, is from 1998.
