This was a really short work week for me. I flew back from Vegas Monday and I was originaslly supposed to be back in the office Tuesday. But my flight from O'Hare to Boston was delayed and I didn't get back to my apartment until nearly 03:00 Tuesday. So I decided to take the day off to rest after CES.
So I was back in Wednesday and Thursday - then I took Friday off too. Originally because I'm supposed to be at Genericon this weekend. I ended up sleeping in late but it is so goddamned cold I'm really not looking forward to driving to Troy. I'm thinking of driving overnight, or maybe getting some sleep and driving in the early hours. But if I'm going at all I should be there by 11AM - I'm supposed to be on a panel. My parents have a place in Ballston Lake where I can crash - they're in Florida so I'd have the place to myself.
Looks like it is time to buy a new microwave. I've had the same one since college and, well, I think it has expired. Recently I've had to nuke things for longer and longer times. It has always been a low power unit but I never needed to double recommended times. I guess the tube is dying and it just isn't putting out the level of power it used to. Tonight I tried to heat up dinner and it barely warmed it at all. So yet another unplanned expenditure. *sigh*
Damn, even with all of the heat in my apartment cranked up since I got home last night it is just hitting 69F in here. (Partly my fault, I STILL haven't finished winterizing this place so there are still drafts.) I'm visiting my parents in Jupiter, FL 2/7-2/15. I kind of wish that was now so I would be out of this bitter cold. :-) Though I'm kind of worried that it might be this cold while I'm away. I don't want to leave the heat on for a week and several of my friends have been reporting their pipes freezing. I'm kind of happy that I've been letting my cold water trickle (at my landlord's suggestion) after reading those reports.
Lisa Loeb is so cute. I never realized that before.
Anyway, I'm watching 'Dweezil and Lisa' - a new show on Food Network. It is cute - the two of them (who are a couple, apparently) doing foodie things while on tour together. So it is two cute people being cute together playing music and enjoying food. :-)
I was supposed to be at Genericon this weekend. I never heard back on what they wanted me to do there so I emailed Thursday. Friday afternoon I got a reply that they wanted me to do a panel Saturday morning at 11. OK. Like I posted last night I was thinking about when I'd drive back. Well, I decided that I didn't want to drive back in the middle of the night because I was a little tired plus I was thinking if anything happened and I got stranded I'd probably freeze. So I decided to catch a couple of hours of sleep and then drive over this morning. My alarm went off at 7 and I got up. I remember doing the "Damn it is cold" huddle under the quilt. Then it was mid-afternoon. I didn't think I was that tired, and I didn't feel like it. So I slept through the day and, of course, the panel. So I feel like a complete asshole. Go me.
I see that Torque is out and showing at the WoShoNo. That looks like braindead eyecandy. Perhaps I'll go see it tonight.
