Well, I hope you got a good night's sleep, and that the UMass mess straitens up...
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 1st, 2004 05:31 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
The UMass thing should be set now. I did get a good bit of sleep, I crashed not long after 8 - and I woke up a little before 8. :-)

Now I have to figure out what to do with my day. I think I may go see a movie. Are you doing anything fun today?
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 1st, 2004 08:04 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
Glad to hear it.

Nah, just taking it easy, maybe try to clean up this hurricane-disaster-area of an apartment a bit, pay some bills, read... feeling pretty lazy today, actually =^)
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 1st, 2004 08:17 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
Yeah I'm feeling lazy too, but I also have the itch to get out of the house for a bit. :-)
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 1st, 2004 08:57 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
Normally I'd feel the same, but I was traveling all day a few days ago, and I'm still shaking the cold- no longer in bed all day, but not much energy. But by tomorrow I'm going to be finding excuses to get out of the house whether the cold is gone or not- I'll probably pick up URU, the new Myst game, and stop by the bookstore and the coffee shop for a while.
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 1st, 2004 09:01 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
Yeah, tomorrow I'm supposed to get together with a couple of old friends, probably in the evening. Not sure what I'll be up to during the day. Though I still want to see Peter Pan at some point too. So if you want to see a a movie it wouldn't take twisting my arm too much. :-)
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 1st, 2004 09:53 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
Sure, why not? =^) When do you want to get together?
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 1st, 2004 10:28 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
Where are you located? I'm out in Worcester, so we should probably figure out where to meet-up. :-) I'm not doing anything Saturday, or Sunday until dinner time (my friends and I do dinner each Sunday night). So I'm pretty much open.

I'm not sure what time my friends and I are getting together tomorrow - waiting to hear back on the email.

Unless you'd like to see The Last Samurai today at Worcester Showcase North at 15:00. :-) (I know, you're just relaxing today.)
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 1st, 2004 11:37 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
At this point, I'd have a hard time getting out to Worchester by 15:00, anyway. =^)

As to when, I'm fairly flexible; As to where, I'm in Somerville, and limited to public transportation, so something convenient to the T or at least the commuter rail is best for me.
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 1st, 2004 05:29 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Yeah, it might be a bit hard unless you have a time machine handy. :-)

OK, you probably know that area better than I do. :-) I'd either be driving all the way or maybe driving to Alewife and taking the T. If you want to see a movie I guess the way to go about it is to pick a cinema you can get to easily and then we'll figure out the time of the show. :-)
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 1st, 2004 06:08 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Actually, I've only been here since August, so I don't know the area all that well. I know there's a second-run theater right nearby in Davis Square, (just one stop from Alewife) I don't know what's playing there. Other than that, I just know about the Boston Common theater at Copley and the one at the Fenway stop on the Green line. Don't know anything about the areas that would be more of a half-way point.

Quick websearch showed what's playing at the Davus Square second-run theater in Somervile. I actually haven't seen Matrix Revolutions yet, have you? I've heard it's anticlimatic, but I'd still like to see it eventually.

Is there something you'd rather see, or do you know of a theater that's more convenient half-way?
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 1st, 2004 08:53 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Well, I used to live in Waltham so I know that area. We could meet at Alewife and I could drive to one of the other theaters around:
Embassy in Waltham
AMC Burlington
Showcase Woburn

Off the T there is Loews in Harvard Square and Landmark Kendall Square.

There is also Loews at Fresh Pond which is across the way from the Alewife T station. And The Fenway as you mentioned.

I have seen Matrix Revolutions once, but if you want to see it I could cope with seeing it again. :-)

The one movie that is out now that I really want to see is Peter Pan. I'm really curious to see what they did with it, and a friend worked on the effects.

There are some movies I didn't catch that may still be around - Mystic River is one I meant to see but didn't make, School of Rock had some interest because I like Jack Black and grew up in the 80s, and Master and Commander looked interesting. I have fairly eclectic tastes so I'm happy with a lot of different stuff.
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 1st, 2004 09:07 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
If we're going to meet at Alewife anyway, then catching Peter Pan at "Lowes at Fresh Pond" is probably easiest, if it's right there.
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 2nd, 2004 10:25 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
That works for me if you want to meet at Alewife. I don't mind coming in on the T to one of the other theaters if you'd prefer.

But this is the listing for Fresh Pond for Saturday:
Peter Pan (2003) (PG, 113 min.)
11:40am | 2:30pm | 5:10pm | 7:45pm | 10:10pm

Any preference? 11:40 is probably a bit early since I'll be coming out from Worcester, and you probably don't want to meet a stranger at 10:10 at night - or 7:45 for that matter. I used to work right by Alewife (what were the BBN/GTEI buildings) and there are a few places to eat around there if you wanted to do so before/after the movie. So 2:30 or 5:10 both work for me. Whichever works better for you.
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 2nd, 2004 01:40 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Hmm, why don't we catch the 2:30 then? Maybe grab coffee somewhere beforehand, if that's not too early.

Oh, I just realized, my actual name isn't anywhere on the info page- I'm Linda. =^)
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 2nd, 2004 03:27 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
OK, that works for me. We probably want to meet up no later than 2 to make sure we get to the movie in time. Earlier if we want to get the coffee. :-)

I think I saw your name when I was looking through your thesis. :-) My name is, believe it or not, MegaZone. My friends tend to call me MZ or Zoner.
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 2nd, 2004 04:33 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Yup, saw in your profile that that was your actual name =^).

So, how about 1:30 at the stiles and then coffee, unless it's easier for you to just meet at 2:00.

BTW, I like the STDIN/STDOUT comment indicators.
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 2nd, 2004 05:35 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
1:30 is fine. I don't know if you've seen any of my photos - http://www.megazone.org/Photos/ - to spot me. But I'll be the tall geek, probably in black - except my London Fog trechcoat is that standard greenish tan kind of color they tend to be. :-)

Glad you like the comment indicators - I tried to give me whole LJ a kind of 'UNIX console' feel with the color scheme and all. I'm planning to use the same scheme for my website when I finally get around to redoing it.
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 2nd, 2004 07:02 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Me: heavyset, long dark-brown hair, wearing black jeans and a dark-green coat. See you tomorrow!
From: cedarmulberry Date: January 2nd, 2004 02:18 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Where is a good place to meet? Alewife's easy for me to get to, but I haven't spent a lot of time exploring the area around it. Perhaps meeting by the subway turnstyles would be easiest?
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: January 2nd, 2004 03:30 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Probably meeting by the turnstyles is the best bet. There really isn't much right around the station other than office buildings. The theater and shopping plazas are on the other side of the bridge from the station, and it is kind of cold for that walk. Who knows what the weather will be like too. I can park at the station and meet you there.
