Heh - neat
So yesterday I'm thinking to myself "It'd be kind of cool to get my daily calendars in LJ..."

So today I'm thinking, say, LJ has email posting... I know Perl... I have crontab...

I have my calendars in LJ...

And I just had to create a new icon for that. (Visio is good for something - though it is 1 pixel off. You tell it 100x100, you get 101x101 - 99x99, you get 100x100.)

I am: satisfied satisfied

If you've got perl you can use LJ::Simple as well.

Oh, I'll have to look at that. Thanks!

Odd, it was there earlier too - that's where the cron Perl is. I found LJ::Simple on Sidehack...

It uses the "flat" protocol (the alternative being an RPC-XML one) and implements pretty much all of the LJ protocol except for the ability to edit friends and groups; I'll get around to writing that at some point.

Here is a neat idea. Create it as a community, that only you can post to but everyone else can friend. And then add a few dozen other weird calendars, along with neat planetary astronomical and astrological stuff to. It would have one post a day.

That *is* a neat idea.

I'll do it.

Cool. Looking forward to it. Need suggestions for some of the additional calendars?

Yeah - right now all three are local scripts, very easy to call. Ideally I'd like things I can install on shell to call from perl. If it is something I have to scrape the web for, I don't know when I'll get to it. I haven't written any LWP in years, I don't remember how to do it off the top of my head. (Haven't had any need.)

I bet Viso starts it at 0,0 and counts to 100,100
