Looking at the movies currently playing, there are a few I'm interested in seeing:
Dawn of the Dead
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Secret Window
Starsky & Hutch
Taking Lives
The Ladykillers
Walking Tall
and maybe The Passion of the Christ

So - any recommendations or anti-recommendations? I realize that's a semi-random mix of movie types. Right now I'm kind of leaning towards seeing Taking Lives tomorrow - or would that be later today?

I don't know anything about any of these movies. But the Eternal Sunshine one makes me laugh because the tivo ad sounded like an anti-vampire drug.

The only thing I've heard about Taking Lives is John Harkness' comment: “…or, to call it by its real name, ‘Se7en for Dummies’” (now included on my collection of snarky film quotes).

For sure see Eternal sunshine, it is marvelous.

Starsky and Hutch was pretty funny, but not Zoolander funny. It will seem more hilarious as a rental I imagine...
Secret window is average with good perofmances by all accounts.

Dawn of the Dead was pretty good, lots of things to like. But I had a few naging issues. Still, this is the kind of film that big screens and big sound make better!

I really liked Dawn of the Dead, but I was in just the right mood for it - not too demanding of internal consistency as long as they kept blowing away zombie brain. It helps, I think, that I haven't seen the first one.

ESOTSM was excellent. My wife didn't know anything about the film while I read ten reviews of it and we both adored it. Jim Carrey finally got a serious role and Kate Winslet was excellent as always. Hopefully this movie will win some awards.

Don't want to spoil the ending for you, but "Passion" ends with a dead guy on a stick.

I saw Secret Window this weekend and thought it was really good. I LOVED Starsky and Hutch but a couple of my friends only thought it was okay. I made the mistake of going to the Passion of Christ on opening night (which is also Ash Wednesday) and the crowd was more interesting than the movie. Gibson did an amazing job. It really depends on whether or or not you are into the subject manner.
