So, I was yawning all day since I got shit for sleep. But other than that, things went ok. It looks like there is a lot of work to do. One person has been juggling a lot of the work and he needs me to pick it up ASAP. One of the first things that I'll be doing is a quick clean up on their docs. I tried to do an install with the docs today and ran into many glitches. Some bugs in the files, mostly messed up docs. Then it looks like I'll be diving into the Perl they have so far to get that working (their current interface system is ASP, they want to be able to support Perl ASAP - then PHP).
I discovered their firewall blocks all the IM networks. At least I couldn't make them work with Trillian. I don't know if the dedicated clients might have some tricky ways around it (like using port 80). I also found that SSH is blocked as well - but Sidehack runs a second sshd on 443 - which I could hit. Thank you sidehack admins!
I'm still nervous, since it has only been one day, and the amount of work waiting to be done is daunting. But I feel a bit better after a day. I'm starting to understand their application and the architecture, so I think I can get a grip on it.
Well, anyway, I stopped at the Solomon Pond Mall on the way home to look for clothes, since I need new clothes for this job, but didn't really see anything. I did get a new paid of leather gloves from Wilson, since they're running a 50% off sale and I needed them. I avoided buying a nice leather duster only because I'm too big and they don't make the one I like in my size.
I then swung over to Rt9 and the Casual Male Big & Tall - but I got there at 7:59 to find they close at 8:00. So I'm going to go directly there tomorrow night. I really need some more shirts at least, but I'll have to build up my wardrobe over the next few weeks I think. So I grabbed dinner from Taco Hell and came home. Started catching up on mail and news, and watched a few things off of my TiVo while I did that.
I also spent a while in IM - Shannon, thekimmer, and gizmoek all chatted with me. I spent the most time chatting with gizmoek - we really seem to have hit it off. Of course, in keeping with long standing tradition, she is seeing someone and isn't poly. I suppose it isn't as bad as it has been - she isn't involved *and* gay. But I was happy to learn that she likes me too, so it isn't one sided. I'm pleased because she's been on my mind since Saturday night and it'd've sucked to find out she disliked me. While I may need to fight the strong urge to kiss her, I think we could still be good friends. :-) We may hang out sometime, she has a lot of anime she wants to see - and hey, I have a lot of anime.
Well, overall I had a decent day, but I must crash now, I can get six hours of sleep - if my brain cooperates.
