Yeah, X has ALWAYS been a problem when upgrading linux systems for me. I have 2 video cards, but they're both nvidias, and even upgrading between different versions of Red Hat and different versions of XFree86 has been a pain.

There also appears, in RHEL3 workstation, to be no easy way to specify that you want xinerama turned on by default. I had to go edit a script somewhere to add +xinerama to the X command-line, which is inane. You'd think nobody else ever used multiple monitors...

You can't just edit the X configuration and put it in there?

It doesn't appear to work the way it's supposed to work...

Anyway, with all the ridiculous piles of auto-config and happy graphical config things they've already made, I don't see why there isn't a check-box for Xinerama somewhere along the way...

There is in Fedora Core 2 - they don't call it that, just 'Dual-Head'. So maybe it'll be in the next RHEL, since FC is supposed to be a kind of development lab for RHEL.
