A public service announcement...
If you like chocolate, go to your nearest Starbucks (yes, I know, whatever) and get yourself a Chantico. Yes, it is small - 6oz I believe - but that's fine. Drink it. Ponder how they managed to bend space time to fit several pounds of chocolate into a 6oz cup.

However, I advise you not to think "Oh, they're kind of small" and drink two of them. Trust me. Really. Trust me. It seems like a good idea at the time. But a couple of hours later when you're acting like a crack fiend, can't stop laughing, are seriously thinking your heart is going to burst, and your eyeballs itch - it won't seem like such a good idea.

But it is very yummy.

Chocolate with some chocolate mixed in, with just a touch of chocolate.

One of Rosie's Bakery's signature items is called "Chocolate Orgasm". It is a very rich fudge brownie with chocolate frosting on it. Yummy.

AGHAD. I've seen those, and always wanted to try it. Sadly, this was after I became lactose-intolerant. Is it worth me f*cking up my Lactaid dose and being hosed for about a week? :-)

Yes. Yes it is.

OK. Guess I am adding that to my list of "things to try when I don't need to be anywhere for 2 days." And there's a Rosie's in Lexington. DOOM.

Each of those things is like your half an adult's daily caloric intake requirements.
kadnkadnk From: kadnkadnk Date: February 12th, 2005 12:29 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
An adult female's caloric requirements are ~1800cal, and an adult male's are ~2000cal. The drink is only 390cal. That's about 1/4 of a female's and about 1/5 of a male's. Which is still too much for a drink, I think. But not so bad as, say, a big mac. :)

On the plus side, it's got a full serving of calcium.

damn. that's about 8 weight watcher's points. an 8 oz cup of Godiva Dark Chocolate Truffle cocoa is only 4 points. Howinthehell did they fit that much more chocolate in there?

I'm gonna try one at some point anyway, but jeez!
ryca From: ryca Date: February 14th, 2005 04:53 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
They use cocoa *butter* instead of cocoa powder. Totally different story. Craziness.

Nibbled to death by ducks - HA! Nice B5 reference.

Mountain View... *sigh* I'm jealous, I miss living in Berkeley myself.

::wanders in from metaquotes::

Mm, Chantico. The only other mystery besides how they fit an entire chocolate warehouse into those dinky little cups is how to pronounce the name of the drink. I've asked at three separate Starbucks out of curiousity, and gotten a different answer each time.
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: February 14th, 2005 04:05 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
I think it is pronounced 'chocolate crack'. :-) Or, judging from the reaction my female co-worker had to the one I gave her 'Cup O' Orgasm'.

Hmm... maybe I'll get more today. :-)

Oh - and hello. Hmm, this is the second time I know of that I ended up in metaquotes. *poke* I see you're both a history student and an anime fan - which is funny, since one of my degrees is History and I'm a major anime fan. And we're both in MA...

:waves at: Also here from metaquotes and I have never even contemplated having two. One is enough of a standing orgasm, two may knock me to the floor. In public, that would be....bad. Just....bad and embarassing. I always say 'Chantico' with a Russian flair, because I enjoy confusing the baristas near my school. They can't decide if I'm Irish or Russian or somehow both. =D

I ramble. Bending space time bit=hilarious and so true.
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: February 14th, 2005 07:27 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)
Well, that's certainly an interesting image... going all 'When Harry Met Sally' in a Starbucks. ;-) Bet it would make a good add for Chantico.

"I'll have what she's having."

Ah, now you've gone and fed my random actor aspirations. :daydreams:
zonereyrie From: zonereyrie Date: February 15th, 2005 02:37 am (UTC) (Direct Link)
Heh... Well, I'm not sure how many roles there are that call for a screaming orgasm in a public place - but I'd say not enough! ;-)

Hi. Wandered in from Metaquotes.

If only I had read your advice sooner! Apparently, the last one I had was half-strength, because I was like, "Meh. Give me two."

And now I can speak only in jitters.

Heh, welcome to the club. Tbe upside is the ability to see through time! The downside is the inability to focus for more than a nanosecond, so you can't do much with the info you see. :-)
