The Ramblings of a Damaged Mind

The quickest way to get most people to do anything is to tell them not to -- human nature -- HAH!

The 'Tempting Fate' meme:

1. Make an LJ-cut post with "DO NOT READ" as the text.
2. Do not select a 'mood' for this post.
3. If anyone clicks the cut, they are to comment and admit to doing so.
4. Anyone who reads this also has to do the same in THEIR journal, thus continuing the never ending madness.

I am: blank blank
Current Media: office buzz

i did it :)

what can i say, i'm a naturally contrary person ^_^

Not a fair test; it is impossible to comment on the hollow inanity of the post without seeing what's behind the cut.

Of all the LJ memes that have crossed my friends list recently, this is perhaps the most idiotically pointless. I decline to obey its instruction that I spread its foul blather into my own journal.

Also, "blank" is a mood selection, so you're lame anyway; neener.

Okay.. I don't feel as stupid seeing that other people have done it too.. *Snickers..* This is an annoying mem... *Passing it on.* May as well. nothing else to post.

Damn my Kenderish curiousity....

Totally guilty, and "blank" isn't "not picking a mood," so I can ignore all the rest of it. ;)

A Discordian is prohibited from believing what he reads.

I didn't click the cut.

I clicked the '$number comments' link.

Um, duh...
purly From: purly Date: March 10th, 2005 11:46 pm (UTC) (Direct Link)

Ok, but...

More interesting would be if you stuck a 1pxX1px image in this thread set up to its own subdomain and then looked at the referring-page to see what friends page the person who clicked on the lj-cut came from... then compared this set of results against the list of people who actually responded.

You could also create a php script that outputs an image, link to it via and img src= tag and then have the script grab and record the data concerning the person's IP, etc in a database for a handy dandy queryable system :)

You could at least have had something brainfrying in the cut. Sheesh.

I clicked, because it was an obvious ploy to get people to read it.

If you didn't want it read, you'd have marked it private and we'd never have seen it.

I was mistaken in thinking that this had something to do with that_xmas's recent post where he mentioned sending an email that had a subject line of "ignore this email".
