The Ramblings of a Damaged Mind
So Sunday was Mother's Day. Being a thoughtful son I wanted to send my mom a huge bunch of flowers. I got caught up in an 'emergency' at work and ended up working an All-Nighter Thursday through Friday, when I finally went home Friday afternoon. So I missed ordering them until late Saturday. Normally I order from 1800Flowers.com and they've always been good. But this time their site warned me that they probably wouldn't be able to deliver on Sunday.

OK, well, I went to FTD.com and their site indicated Sunday delivery was available. Great! So I made my purchase and all was well.

Then this afternoon (Monday) I received this:
Unfortunately, due to holiday volumes we are unable to deliver your gift until Monday, May 9th or Tuesday, May 10th.

So I called my folks and asked my dad if they'd arrived. Nope. And it was already about 8PM. So they didn't deliver Sunday as promised *or* Monday. My parents will be out of the house most of tomorrow, and they're leaving for NY on Thursday or Friday anyway, so there's little point in getting them after that. OK, well:
If you would like to cancel the order and receive a full refund, simply click on this link...

Fine... Or not...
We have received your recent request to cancel your order. Upon investigation, we found that your order was already in the process of being delivered, and as such we cannot accommodate your request.

In the process of being delivered? Not tonight - that came at 20:36! If they've already put it in the truck for tomorrow - those'll be *real* fresh when delivered.

Fuck FTD.

And when the hell did it get to be 22:30? Christ, I just want to go home and sleep.

Yeah, I'm really pissed off about it. Especially with everything my folks have been doing to help me with the house and all.

And today has just been shitty. I woke up feeling kind of sick and have all day, and it is worse now (probably just stress). Now my left arm is twitching for no apparent reason and it is really annoying me... Even though we got some good stuff done today at work I feel like today just sucked totally. I want to crawl into bed and be done with today.

Anyway, I'm finally out, I'll be home in a bit.

Gah, I think I might be coming down with something after all...

Just after I posted that I stood up to pack to go and got dizzy. I had to sit back down and put my head on my desk until it passed. Highly unpleasant.

I should be OK to drive now, so I'm leaving while I can. Bleh.

See you online.

doh. very lame.

I never did like FTD anyway. I usually use proflowers.com.

Another option (which I'd recommend) is to bypass the national services entirely, find a florist local to your recipient, and order from them directly via phone.

I've found that, even when they're not royally screwing things up, FTD and the others don't always operate in the most efficient way. I once ordered flowers for my grandmother, and rather than using the (very nice) FTD-network flower shop a half mile from her house, they used one in Augusta (~30 minutes away). This had the added disadvantage of not using the florist that knew my grandmother by name, knew her address by heart, etc. (My mom's from a family of 11 kids... my grandmother gets a -lot- of flower deliveries. :)

I hope you paid by credit card. Consider filing a chargeback for merchant failure to deliver time-sensitive goods within the promised time, and due to their failure, the goods are no longer acceptable.
