Well, we handle the adult industry so part of my daily routine is reading AVNOnline.com's news, mainly looking for payment related articles, but sometimes I spot things like this too. :-)

FWIW, the dreamstripper.com site doesn't render right with Safari 2.0. :)

That may be more a reflection of what their expected audience is. :)

Not surprising, the HTML is fucked up.

What exaclty is wrong

Hi,

With Safari 2.0 what are the problems? as I do not have it installed.

FYI My Stats...
1 Internet Explorer 6.x 64.59%
2 Firefox 18.61%
3 Internet Explorer 5.x 3.05%
4 Safari 2.56%
5 Opera 1.90%
6 Others 1.88%
7 Netscape 7.x 1.16%

As you see Safari is only about 2.5% of the Hits, I will look into fixing any html promblems.

Re: What exaclty is wrong

Ah, someone checks their referrer logs I take it. ;-)

Hi David,

I spotted a few problems just looking at the source - the first thing is you have a DIV element at the top, BEFORE the DOCTYPE. DOCTYPE *MUST* be first or you may as well noy have it.

Later in the document you had <td div> kind of stuff instead of <td><div> - the two tags had become one, which means the DIV didn't really exist at all, it was being treated as an attribute on TD.

The best thing to do is use a Validator - check this out: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A//www.dreamstripper.com/

What you want is a result like: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A//www.paycash.us/

(That's a site I'm webmaster for.)

I also really like http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/
http://www.htmlhelp.com/cgi-bin/validate.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dreamstripper.com%2F&warnings=yes&input=yes

Also, you are using the XHTML doctype, but some of your tags are not XHTML compliant - for example <br> is not XHTML, you need <br /> - XML, all elements need a closing tag. Empty elements need the trailing slash.

I have to say that overall the HTML is pretty clean, just a few things - but the DOCTYPE being off will force browsers into quirks mode which can cause layout to be not what you desired.

I'm kind of a standards zealot, since I worked on the HTML and CSS specs with the W3C. :-)

Re: What exaclty is wrong

Hi Zoner,

Thanks for the help, I will make the fixes tonight, I am more of C++ programmer, HTML and PHP are secondary.. Guess we need a real webmaster :-)

Re: What exaclty is wrong

No problem, you've done better than most sites really. :-)

I've drifted back and forth in my career. Up until a couple of months ago my Title was 'Senior Software Engineer' and I was doing a mix of ASP/VB and .Net/C#, with some Perl and PHP mixed in for flavor. But I jumped from Engineering to Operations for a change of pace and now I'm 'Webmaster'. I used to do secure networks, routing, etc, and I've also been a Java developer, and *way* back some C/C++. This days I can still read and tweak most C stuff, but I'm very, very rusty on that.

Basically I'm just a geek who does whatever is interesting at the time. :-)

Re: What exaclty is wrong

Just in case the comment *didn't* get through - there seems to be a bug in the comment form on the website. Looks like the redirect from the form after receiving the comment has a backslash configured:

HTTP/1.x 302 Found
Date: Wed, 15 Jun 2005 15:35:23 GMT
Server: Apache/2.0.53 (Win32) mod_ssl/2.0.53 OpenSSL/0.9.7b PHP/5.0.3

I *LOVE* the Live HTTP Headers extension to Firefox. ;-)
