SCO e-mail: No 'smoking gun' in Linux code
A 2002 e-mail suggests that an investigation commissioned by The SCO Group failed to produce any evidence that Linux contained copyrighted Unix code.

Just more evidence that SCO's big anti-Linux lawsuit is bullshit - not that many people think otherwise.

SCO made shitty UNIX, now they make shitty lawsuits. I really hope they lose, and I hope they end up paying enough to bankrupt and close.

The sad thing is....

It didn't have to be like this. I can remember using SCO UnixWare in 1996 at an ISP (Accesscom, in New Orleans). Part of it sucked -- it _badly_ needed the GNU userland -- but part of it was wonderful. MMDF's facility for handling virtual domains was really nice -- a file which held a tab-separated list of name@domain->realname@realdomain with either wildcards or regexes, I forget which -- it's been 9 years. At the time, I wasn't aware of anything that could compete in the ease of use category.

_At the time_, it was competitive. Pity what they did to it.

Don't even get me started on OpenSewer^WOpenServer, though. Having to relink the frickin kernel and reboot to change the IP address in _2000_? What were they _smoking_?

Although a friend once pointed out the distance between Santa Cruz and Berkley and posited the existence of a pipeline. If said pipeline was extended up to the current headquarters, that would explain a _lot_...

What, SCO used all the bad ideas the BSD folks laughed out of the room? ;-)

I can't claim credit for discovering the picture. It was atypicalnet that first showed it to me.
