The Devil's Rejects
I decided to get out and catch a movie tonight, and I just got back from The Devil's Rejects, the latest film from Rob Zombie.

I really enjoyed it. I mean, it isn't high cinema or anything, but it seems to be staged to deliberately capture the 'feel' of classic suspense/slasher movies of the 70s. Even the look of the film looks like it is from that era, not as crisp and clear as modern films tend to be. Lots of classic rock music to set the soundtrack too. The look and feel of this film is just great, Rob Zombie really did a fantastic job, as did the actors.

It is a sequel to House of 1000 Corpses but I think this is better. House was kind of an homage to supernatural gorefest B-movies, and it was effective in that vein, but this is more 'believable' - nothing supernatural or unbelievable about it, just sadistic killers on a spree and a crazy cop out for revenge. It is so different from the movies we're used to seeing today, that made it all the more enjoyable for me.

I am: happy happy

Rob Zombie has a local radio show, Spookshow International. He plays nothing but surf rock, generally. This disturbed wedgex and I greatly... until we realized that every great White Zombie or Rob Zombie hook is basically surf guitar on meth. ;)
