The Ramblings of a Damaged Mind
Friday Five, on Sunday
1. Have you written your will?
No, but I really, really should. It has been on my To Do list for years.

2. Would you prefer to be buried or cremated? Why?
Cremated, after any useful parts are harvested.

3. What do you imagine your funeral to be like?
Non-existent. I really don't want any formal wake or funeral. Maybe some friends will get together to share some stories.

4. What would you like to be remembered for?
Hopefully something I do in my life will make a positive difference for someone.

5. Do you believe in reincarnation?
No. I believe death is The End.

Are you telling me that death is a really bad Burt Reyolds movie?

What a surprise, a Burt Reynolds movie with Dom DeLuise.

For the longest time I told people that I wanted no service, funeral or anything at all after my death but then I did memorial services for friends who said the same thing. With nothing at all, it's difficult for everybody who arranges the memorial, and there will be people who will do it. Anybody with any kind of friends whatsoever is going to have it happen. I sat down one afternoon and wrote out what I thought would be good for those who survive me and sent my notes off to two people who have the greatest likelihood of living longer than I will so that nobody has to try to find them in my computer or files somwhere. It's weird, especially since I am by far not any fan of my own, but memorial services are not for the dead, they're for the living. It makes me feel oddly responsible somehow. :)

I always wanted to be freeze dried, and placed in my favorite chair in front of the TV. But then I decided that was kind of boring, so now I still want to be freeze dried, but dressed like a viking chieftan and used as the body in a museum display of a viking funeral. That way my friends and family will still be able to see me and my death will have a purpose both educational and interesting.

I always liked Gryph's idea of a combination Viking and New Orleans funeral.

Which of course put images in my head, and caused me to wonder why he'd want to set a jazzband adrift on a burning longship...
