Why do they torture me
So now there are Jack in the Box ads on Adult Swim.

There isn't a Jack in the Box for six states.

It was my favorite fast food joint when I lived in CA, and I even liked the ads. It gave me a wave of 'homesickness' for Berkeley, I haven't been to the Bay Area in too long I think...

Same for Sonic, which has been running ads on cable networks up here despite being several states away.

I have, for several weeks now, been consumed with a ferocious lust for the chicken tenders at Church's. Our intrepid field researcher, ardaniel, has determined that the nearest one is in Philadelphia.

(Yeah, that's right, Church's. I used to go to the one near my home in Oakland all the time. Yes, I lived in the ghetto. It seemed like a good idea at the time.)

Great. Now I have an Elvis earworm.

Well, if those fast food venues aren't in your neighborhood, surely you're healthier for it. ;-)

But yeah, you oughtta come out and visit this fine state. ;-)

Yeah, that heart-stopper from Carl's Jr. tasted great. You just don't want to eat it too often. :-)

re: Jack in the Box

They seem to have been selectively culled from states I've visited.

I'd FedEx you one from the left coast (if the plane I'm waiting for ever gets there - Chicago weather = bad, airport wireless = good ), but it would be all congealed once it arrived.

Ewww, congealed.

The funny thing about restaurants and fast food joints is that you miss the ones that aren't anywhere near. Like when you pulled a bootlegger turn into a Dunkin' Donuts :).

I did miss DD the entire time I lived in California. :-)

I can truly say that I've never dined at a Jack-in-the-Box. The only Sonic I've visited was in Glasgow KY.
I can't really think of a chain restaurant from another area that isn't up here (seeing as how the only place outside of this state that I visit is northern Virginia).
However, until the past couple of years, after my first visit to Manassas VA, there hadn't been a 7-11 in the Worcester area. (The closest I knew of was in Sunderland MA.) Now there is one on Grafton Street, and has been there for maybe about five years now. But I want one in my neck of the woods in Worcester, so I don't have to spend twenty minutes in my car driving across town just to get a Slurpee.
(Manassas, btw, in my observations, is a hatching ground for 7-11s. There's at least one street corner where there are two of them next to each other.)

I was also questioning the "Bare Essentials" make-up ads last night, given Adult Swim's 18-34 male age demographic.

Unless of course the make-up people are chasing the SO's of the target demographic, which oddly enough worked with my wife...
