I never expected Denny's to be packed with drunks at 3am on Thanksgiving. Live and learn.

What, the one near 290? That's ALWAYS filled with drunks at 3 AM. I'm a regular there around then...not usually drunk, usually we're the group playing card games near the counter.

I've been in there many times over the years, and it is usually fairly dead mid-week. Last night's crowd was rowdier than what I normally see on a Friday or Saturday, and drunker. One girl was carried out by a friend because she was too drunk to function, I think that's the first time I've seen that in 16+ years of being in and out of there. I mean, I've seen people really drunk, but she was a rag doll. (OK, I saw one guy pass out cold and the paramedics came for him. But his GF claimed someone slipped him GHB.)

I guess I just didn't think of it as the first night of a 4-day weekend, which is how some people look at it. It was mostly students, so I bet they're the kids not going home for the holiday, so they see it as just a break to party.

I usually sit at the counter, since I'm alone and there is no point waiting for a table. I've probably seen you. I'm not really a regular - kind of an irregular, regular. I've been going there since I got to WPI in 89, but it can be weeks between visits, and then I'll be there a few times, then a gap again. When I lived on Belmot Hill I went more often because it was more on my way home. Now that I'm in Greendale it isn't as close, and I generally go only late, after the 99 by my house would be closed.

Thanksgiving weekend is a HUGE drinking weekend. Wed night and Fri night, people want to escape their families, so they hit the bars. :)

Yeah, I guess so. I never thought of it that way before last night.

I just never thought of it that way before. I'm not much of a drinker, so I guess I didn't think "Woohoo, 4-day weekend, time to get shitfaced!" I mean, I've been in there on Friday and Saturday nights and seen people less drunk. Last night one girl was carried out by one of the guys from her table, limp as a rag doll, because she was so hammered. Sue, who is normally fine with the weekend crowd, was kind of fried last night and said it had been one of those nights.
