"No one else has ever built a place where you can experience biblical history and merge it with the science," he said.

I wonder if there might be a good reason for that, perhaps.

Things like this make it hard not to feel superior.

I've always tried to point out the words of the Bible are never meant to be literal. Who says how long a day is anyhow?

God does.

I mean, duh. :)

But who designates God as a 'who'. It could be a 'what'. :)

Why, the people you're trying to argue with about the "day" thing in the first place, of course.

Doh!

Now I know why I live in the Northeast again. :-)

When I was in Hebrew School, I had a teacher who tried to tell the class dinosaur fossils were put there by God to test our faith.

We came up with the more existential idea at that point and she couldn't respond.

It's great when a bunch of 10 year olds can out think their religious teacher. :)

Mister Hicks, please pick up on Line 3. Mister Bill Hicks, Line 3, please.

I've always pointed out that the Bible is worse than Mein Kamph when it comes to morals. Hitler had the good graces to be euphemistic about genoicide. God explicitly endorses genocide and human sacrifice.

Don't forget fathers sleeping with their daughters.

When the Gallup Poll asked people about their views on the subject last March, 47 percent of Americans polled said that God created humans pretty much in their present form some time in the last 10,000 years. That belief was strongest among those with less education, regular churchgoers, people 65 and older, and Republicans.

In other words, "the generally credulous". Gotcha.

There also will be an exhibit suggesting that belief in evolution is the root of most of modern society's evils. It shows models of children leaving a church where the minister believes in evolution. Soon the girl is on the phone to Planned Parenthood, while the boy cruises the Internet for pornography sites.

Maybe the human race isn't worth saving...

What I want to know is, are there significant numbers of these people who go to church every weekend?? I mean, I tried but it cut into my "online" time, IYKWIM, AITYD.

BTW, Megazone, have you heard from Rerob since WPI? He was in our tech writing courses. My username was kimshi back then, if you do not remember me. It's hard to forget someone that has only a first name :-).

Yeah, I hear from him from time to time.

He would not happen to be an LJ user, would he? I was friends with him and Julie in college. Hopefully they are still together.

I was a groomsman in their wedding, and they're still together as far as I know - but I don't think they're on LJ.

Bummer about the lack of LJ. I guess everyone does not have one, even if it sometimes seems that way. If you happen to remember next time you see him, tell them Erik said "hey".
