Yes, I did go see it tonight. And I was totally blown away. It has been a long time since I've seen a movie that enraptured me like that. Very cool. I'm not normally one for musicals, but I basically stopped noticing it was one not long into the movie, because I got into the story and presentation thereof. And Helena Bonham Carter is as gorgeous as ever.
I also saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets on Sunday. I went in looking for something where I could turn my brain off and just be passively entertained, and I wasn't disappointed. I'm also one of those people who likes Nick Cage (I've noticed people seem to either like his work or hate it), and if you like Nick Cage it is probably enjoyable for you. But it isn't the kind of movie you're going to remember for too long after you leave the theater. I thought it needed more puzzle solving and less caper antics. And, of course, the premise is utterly ludicrous. It is basically a parody of conspiracy theories and things like The Da Vinci Code when you get down to it.
But, again, Sweeney Todd is pure awesome.
Oh, and on an unrelated note, I signed up on Twitter, just because. I'm 'megazone' there.
