Google Chrome
I blogged about Google Chrome last night/this morning, and now it is available for download for Windows XP/Vista (Mac & Linux versions are in the works). If you haven't heard, Chrome is a new web browser from Google with some major changes under the hood for improved performance and security. And a new approach to the UI, which is very minimalist. I've been playing with it and my first impression is very positive. It is *fast*, it renders pages well, it looks good, and as a long time Firefox user - it does what I expect. It is fairly intuitive for me to use.

I'll keep using it and see if I run into any gotchas. But as a first release of a new product, this is looking pretty solid. The one thing it lacks is all the extensions for Firefox.

I found that basic Facebook stuff wasn't working right (adding friends). And until there's Delicious integration, it's a non-starter for me.

But still, it's fast and I like the UI. I have high hopes for future iterations.

I am also happy with how all the Firefox hotkeys I use (ctrl 1-9, ctrl w, ctrl t, ctrl shift t) still work.

Flash seems to have speed issues

The flash plugin seems to need some work. It's a real hog, and I don't know if it's because of the inter-process communication or what, but rendering pages with flash on them really slows things down, especially if there are multiple flash objects on the page. Other than that, though, I have to agree that there's a good coolness and speed factor going on!

No Adblock Plus! I'd forgotten how many ads are plastered all over everything.

ach works at google -- I blamed him for google taking over the internets and asked him when did al gore sell his shares?

I like Chrome, not love, but like. Missing the intergration with delicious is a drawback, but I'm sure that I'll be hotstepping between the two browsers until Chrome does everything I want it to do or it doesn't and I keep using firefox. :D

about:robots doesn't work. There's no point in investigating further.
