Aw man, I'd totally go if I were over there.

So when are you moving to California?

I don't know - honestly not sure if I will now, been having second thoughts.

Yeah, I was wondering, since it had been a while since there had been any news on that front...

Also, Happy birthday! 8)

It has been one thing after another. I was running the PRO-HD beta and that had to get out in time for the holidays, so there was no way I was moving while that was running. Then I took on the SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry beta, which is the next high profile project and that's just going into Public Beta in 12/30, but still goes after that before release. CES is coming up and I'm working Sling's booth and blogging, I'll be in Las Vegas 1/4-1/12. So that kind of blows January. Then in mid-February I'm going to Florida for a couple of weeks to see my folks.

So the first opportunity to move would be March - provided nothing else comes up by then.

And there is still the house situation. I can't sell it in this market, which means I'd have to rent it out. And that makes me nervous for several reasons - primarily being an absentee landlord so I can't keep an eye on things and what happens if my renters bail and I'm left hanging with a mortgage to pay? I'd be screwed.

And there are some changes happening at work, or potential changes, so I want to see what happens.

Of course, there is also just the fact that I dread moving and all the hassle involved. And I've started to enjoy life more since I found Nick's as a place I love to hang out and I've made some more friends, etc.

I haven't ruled out moving, and I do really love the Bay Area, but it isn't as clear as it was. Work had been pushing me to move because HR didn't want to deal with bringing me on full time while I lived in MA, but someone higher up forced the issue and they had to do it anyway. Now that they've had to do the work to make me salaried in MA they've backed off trying to get me to move ASAP.

If I don't move I do want to try to get out to CA more often to visit the office. Maybe once a quarter or once ever couple of months, if I can work that out.
