My tweets from the past day...
  • 02:07 Ugh - I got caught up in a puzzle at work and now it is 2AM, I'm 75-90 minutes from home, and I never had dinner. I'm an idiot sometimes. #
  • 02:20 @mathowie If I had any money I'd be interested just for all the excellent content. #
  • 17:27 I am definitely feeling it today. Ended up leaving the office ~03:30, driving rain all the way home, ate, and crashed around 06:00. #
  • 17:28 Another late night tonight - fiber vendor service window 00:00-02:00 that I'm covering. #
  • 17:29 TiVo just announced that Amazon VOD in HD is finally here for the Series3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL - nice to see that go public. #
  • 17:30 @gchance Note that TiVo & DirecTV kissed and made up - new DirecTiVos expected later this year. #
  • 17:33 @bjdraw That's what TiVo & DirecTV said in the past and I haven't seen any public announcements of a change. #
  • 17:34 @bjdraw And @tivogrrl just tweeted about it - wouldn't expect her to tell someone to wait if it is going to be a long time. #
  • 17:36 Amazon VOD in HD is also on the Roku player for those without TiVo. :-) #
  • 17:43 @gchance Given EchoStar's ongoing fight not to pay TiVo for their patents, I wouldn't expect a lot of cooperation there anytime soon. #
  • 17:51 Idle thought: Should Liberty Media should acquire HAVA to use the tech in DirecTV boxes, TiVo's, etc to compete with EchoStar/Sling? #
  • 18:15 @davezatz I said from day one that VUDU really needed to be a service on other boxes, not their own box. VUDU on TiVo I'd use. #
  • 18:19 @earl7399 The Series2 only has a decoder for MPEG2, the S3/HD adds MPEG4/H.264 & VC-1 - Netflix uses VC-1 to stream, S2 can't decode it. #
  • 18:44 Old school anime fans, I remembered this and had to share the pain. You're welcome. Maybe NSFW or your sanity: is.gd/tL8d #
  • 18:45 @GadgetVirtuoso Yeah, I really wish the TiVo/Amazon interface had a 'My Library' page to see what you own and re-download. #
  • 18:46 @tivogrrl If TiVo added Hulu it could really replace cable/sat for a lot of people. (Not me though, too many cable shows not online yet.) #
  • 18:59 @ryanblock Maybe pagers will be the new retro-trend for hipsters. ;-) #
  • 19:05 @NA9D I've played with one - not worth the price or having yet another damn box. #
  • 19:06 @NA9D I wouldn't use it enough to justify either, but if it were a service on a box I own already I would probably use it more often . #
  • 19:12 @earthdog I don't use NetFlix at all - don't rent enough to pay a sub. But I use Amazon VOD now and then on my TiVo, it is convenient. #
  • 19:25 Hmm - I'm in Somerville now, need to go to Rockland for 00:00-02:00 maintenance. Thinking about Redbones for dinner before heading down. #
  • 19:33 From the FreeNAS Setup and User guide: "NFS is the CIFS equivalent for UNIX/Linux World." That phrasing makes me a bit sad and a bit annoyed #
  • 19:39 Has anyone developed a portable GPS with Google Maps integration yet? Just wondering... #
  • 19:40 @shwood Awesome, looks like it is in good condition too. I recently picked it up on BD (after DVD, LD, and VHS) - need to watch it again. #
  • 20:06 @earthdog It'd be cool to have the GPS sync with Latitude, be able to search on the web then sent the search to the device, etc. I think so. #
  • 20:30 OK, I'm leaving ColoSpace Somerville, going to Redbones for dinner, then heading to ColoSpace Rockland. Whee! Wonder if it is still raining? #

Netflix

Netflix is totally worth it, IMHO, if only for the streaming service. Tivo looks to have refined the interface a little with one of the recent updates, it's pretty awesome. I loved it just for the mail service, but the convenience of having a ton of movies in my streaming queue that I can just plop down and pick what I feel like watching is really excellent, particularly for a flat, all you can eat fee. At least, for my use case. It really improves the Netflix story for seasons of TV shows and stuff like that as well.
