My tweets from the past day...

  • 17:51 My co-worker, Jason, turned me on to LauncherPro for Android yesterday: Very cool upgrade to my Droid. #android #
  • 17:52 LauncherPro gives you lots of configuration options found in Froyo, HTC Sense, etc - up to 7 home screens, dock icons, quickview of screens #
  • 18:06 Hmm, @badmacktuck recommends ADW.Launcher: I'll check that one out too. #
  • 18:27 ADW.Launcher seems a little slicker and has lots of settings, but LauncherPro gives you five customizable dock icons, and up to three docks #
  • 18:29</e> ADW.Launcher is more 'Froyo' with Phone, Home, Web as fixed icons in the one dock. Both have nice features the other doesn't - both solid. #
  • 18:38 Hmm, I found an option in ADW.Launcher gives you five dock buttons 'Secondary ActionButtons'. And to allow customization. #
  • 18:39 @anderwebs I just figured out how to get the four dock buttons - it was grayed out, realized I had to uncheck the dots first. :-) #
  • 18:45 @anderwebs Already did. Took me a few tries to figure out how to customize - tried holding down on a spot, or dragging existing off to clear #
  • 18:46 @anderwebs Finally tried just dragging an icon onto the existing one - not used to that working. But got it sorted. Very nice. #
  • 18:51 Both LauncherPro and ADW.Launcher are very solid upgrades to Android, I wish I'd installed either one a lot sooner. #android #
  • 18:52 I'll keep both for a while to try them out, right now I think I like ADW.Launcher better - more knobs to adjust and it seems faster #android #
  • 18:54 @anderwebs I like the ability to change the drawer layout - went 4wx5h P and 5wx4h L. Wish the homescreens could do the same. #
  • 18:55 @anderwebs Nice work, I'm definitely going to recommend my Droid carrying friends check it out. This should be the default. #
  • 20:11 @davezatz I use Droidlight on my Droid often enough that it is pretty useful. Better than just using the screen as a flashlight. :-) #
  • 20:12 @davezatz Nice, which Galaxy S model is that - I know each carrier has their own variant. #
  • 20:13 The Japanese War Tuba isn't as cool as the name made me hope - but it is still pretty cool. :-) #
  • 21:22 @z_gryphon Check out ADW.Launcher for your Droid - pret ty sweet. Just showed it to Nancy and how she wants it on her's too. #
  • 21:24 I haven't rooted my Droid yet partly because I like seeing what it is like for a 'normal' user, and partly because I really haven't had need #
  • 21:25 Android is so open and flexible by default I haven't really felt the need to root, other than doing it just for the geek factor. #
  • 21:26 The one thing that has me seriously considering rooting the Droid is the inability to easily take screenshots without rooting first. #
  • 21:34 @z_gryphon I can picture Dachshund mom and Rottweiler dad, but the other way around defies the physics of space time I think. ;-) #
  • 21:40 @z_gryphon Stealth... and climbing gear, or stilts... #
  • 21:44 @z_gryphon "Oh, isn't that cute, that dachshund is riding that Rottweiler!" "Er... yes. yes he is..." #
  • 21:45 @jsalsman Yeah, I meant on-phone apps. I know you can do it via the SDK, just more of a pain in the ass. #
  • 21:49 @z_gryphon Yeah, he'll be getting kibble of that story for the rest of his life. #
  • 22:25 @jsalsman I used to have one on my Palm OS Treo that was nice. But Android doesn't expose the APIs unless you're root. #
  • 22:25 @jsalsman I understand disabling them by default, but it'd be nice to be able to give explicit permission to the app if you know. #
  • 22:28 Nancy made dinner tonight and for desert we had sundaes with her brownies and my raspberry ice cream - very yummy! The dinner and desert :-) #
  • 22:40 For the rrecond, yes, I know you can take Android screenshots using the SDK. I was referring to on-phone apps, which need root. #
  • 22:41 @purly My 23andme results were fairly benign too. #
  • 22:43 @scotttyrrell Yeah, WiFi hotspot is the other temptation. I have PDANet now but it could be nice. #
  • 22:47 Just helped someone from Phoenix, AZ with a question about *Disney* ...on Aardvark! #
